Going into the 2018 NFL season, there were many folks wondering how the Pittsburgh Steelers would fare without their star running back Le'Veon Bell.

Despite not making the playoffs, James Conner showed that everything should be just fine in the Steelers' backfield for years to come.

Conner finished this season with 973 rushing yards on 215 carries with 12 rushing touchdowns. Additionally, he compiled 55 catches on 71 targets for 497 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Bell, of course, sat out the entire season due to a contract dispute.

But when breaking down the numbers from Bell's last two seasons with the team and Conner's 2018 campaign, there's essentially no difference between the two.

In fact, the Steelers might be better off with Conner over Bell

Bell will be looking for a new team this offseason, while Conner will settle in for his third season in Pittsburgh. One thing is for certain, though. Both players will be worthy of first-round picks in 2019 fantasy drafts and owners would be lucky to have either one.
