Steals are one of the most volatile stat categories in fantasy baseball and unless you draft an elite speedster, it's often hard to find a late-round source for stolen base production. However, if his 2018 season is any indication, Adalberto Mondesi could be the sleeper pick that boosts your stolen base total in 5x5 scoring leagues.

Mondesi recorded the sixth season since the 2000 MLB season in which a player attempted to steal a base on at least 45 percent of the opportunities they were given, according to Baseball Reference.

Billy Hamilton has done so twice, while the ageless Rajai Davis has accounted for the other three instances. Hamilton may have his faults, but he's arguably the best base stealer in the Major Leagues today. The fact that Mondesi finds himself in the same company as his newest teammate is an incredibly encouraging sign that he's bound for a big season in 2019, at least in the stolen base category in fantasy.

The shortstop position is pretty top heavy this year, but not many of the best at the position have the kind of steal production that Mondesi is capable of. If he reaches his potential in 2019, expect Mondesi to finish the year as a top-10 fantasy option at the shortstop position.
