Over the past couple of weeks, the top of the NFL hierarchy has gotten increasingly muddled.

While it looked like we had three truly dominant teams this season, the New Orleans Saints lost to the Dallas Cowboys, and they've looked shaky ever since. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Los Angeles Chargers and also struggled with the Baltimore Ravens. Finally, the LA Rams have lost two straight games.

The Rams-Chiefs Monday night game appeared to be Super Bowl LIII preview but there's a real possibility that neither team in that game is the No. 1 seed in their conference and the odds tend to agree.

The Rams are all but cooked when it comes to getting the NFC No. 1 seed due to their head-to-head loss to the Saints. After two straight losses, the Rams would need to win out and have the Saints lose out to get home-field advantage. This is huge news for the Saints because Drew Brees is undefeated at the Superdome in the playoffs.

The New England Patriots pretty much eliminated themselves from No. 1 seed contention after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15, and the Texans would also need both teams ahead of them to lose out. So it'll pretty much just come down to the Chargers or Chiefs for the No. 1 seed, with the other team forced to be a Wild Card team.

The Chiefs finish with the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders, while the Chargers have the Ravens and Denver Broncos left on their schedule. If either team is going to slip up, it's likely going to be in Week 16 against two strong playoff contenders.

Kansas City is still the favorite thanks to the tiebreaker, but this could honestly go either way and we could easily see Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs playing on the road in the first round of the playoffs.
