Patrick Mahomes has shocked and surprised us each and every week even though we now know just how good he is.

You think you know what the first-year starter is going to do weekly and then he somehow raises the expectations. If he continues to do that, he'll be in the conversation for the greatest season from a quarterback in NFL history as the touchdown record is in his grasp.

Mahomes is receiving +250 odds to break the record of 55 passing touchdowns set by Peyton Manning in 2013.

It's one of those records you can't see being broken until you witness something special like the Chiefs' quarterback.

At this pace Mahomes is currently at, he would fall short of the record by less than one full score. He would have to average over three passing touchdowns per game his last four games, something he's done in seven of his 12 contests this season.

Mahomes right now has the record for the fewest games to reach 40 passing touchdowns in the history of the league.

The second-year QB has both a favorable and shaky schedule coming up. He has matchups against the Chargers and Raiders still left and he threw four touchdowns against both teams thus far. He also faces a stingy Seahawks defense and the Baltimore Ravens, who are tied for the third-fewest passing touchdowns allowed.

Mahomes needs four more magical games to snap the record held by one of the best who has ever slung it.
