The Kansas City Chiefs possibly have the best offense in the NFL with Patrick Mahomes, Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill leading the charge. However, their defense is, well, not the strongest unit in the league.
The Chiefs give up 297.2 yards per game through the air, good for last in the entire NFL, and are fresh off giving up 54 points to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday. The pass defense has been porous all year, but that might be changing soon with the potential return of star safety Eric Berry.
The All-Pro safety has been out all year with a "heel" injury after rupturing his Achilles in 2017. He had a Haglund's deformity in his heel which is actually just a bone spur that pushes into the Achilles. Berry hasn't practiced all season and it was starting to seem unlikely that he would play at all this year so this is encouraging news.
Berry reportedly won't be ready for the Chiefs next game against the Oakland Raiders, but just being back on the practice field is progress. He could possibly be able to play against the Ravens in Week 14. Who knows, he might be the missing piece that propels the Chiefs to a Championship.
