The NBA season is just two weeks away, which means basketball is just about back in our daily lives. While the preseason is still underway, many teams are trying to figure out their rotations, which young players will see playing time and how to finally knock off the Warriors.
It's a time of hope in the NBA and the start of the season can't get here fast enough.
But also remember, there's only so much more time to figure out who the best longshots for seasonal awards will be. You've got Damian Lillard at 60/1, Victor Oladipo at 95/1 and then all the way near the bottom of the odds there's Chris Paul.
CP3 is a 9-time All-Star and currently has higher MVP odds than Lonzo Ball, Markelle Fultz and Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose! (who's 100/1).
While Paul is often overshadowed by his running mate James Harden, who is +550 to repeat, he still puts up impressive stat lines. In 2017, Paul averaged 18.6 points, 7.9 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game while also shooting 46 percent from the field. He's also a leader on the court and will be returning to a team positioned to make the finals after just missing out due to Paul's injury in the Western Conference Finals.
It's not unprecedented either. In 2015-16 Paul finished 6th in the MVP voting and in 2011-12 he finished 3rd. In 2018, Paul certainly isn't the best bet for MVP or anything like that, but at 120/1 he might be worth taking a closer look.
