The 2018 NFL season isn't too far away from kickoff, but the first surprising fantasy took place earlier today.

Austin Carr, a former undrafted free agent out of Northwestern with almost no NFL experience, will be manning the slot for Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. According to Ian Rapoport, Brees is the one who may have vouched for Carr to be in the lineup.

It's been quite a journey for Carr, who was initially signed by the New England Patriots in 2017; he was placed on waivers not long after and then claimed by the Saints before the season started.

The good news for Carr comes at the expense of former Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith, who will seemingly get stuck being the odd man out.

Today's matchup for Carr is a glorious one as he'll go against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary that has been consistently bad over the years. Today's situation looks even more gloomy with injuries and inexperience downgrading their secondary.

The Saints have the most optimism of any team going into Sunday. If Carr gets in on just a fraction of the offensive production, he'll pay off in all fantasy formats at a very low ownership.
