The San Francisco 49ers have been ravaged by injuries so far this year, but have battled to a 2-1 record after blowing out the New York Giants in Week 3. They head back home to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football in this Week 4 NFL matchup.
The 49ers are favored by a touchdown in this game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Here are three bold predictions for the 49ers in Week 4.
1. Brandon Aiyuk Has His First 100+ Yard Receiving Game
The San Francisco 49ers drafted Aiyuk in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft in hopes that he would be an immediate playmaker for the offense. He showed that potential in Week 3 when he broke off 101 yards from scrimmage on 8 total touches. The rookie out of Arizona State will look to build on that momentum against a shaky Eagles' secondary that has allowed the seventh-highest passer rating to opposing QBs.
2. 49ers Defense Sacks Carson Wentz at Least 4 Times
The play of the Eagles' offensive line this year has been anything but great. They have given up the fourth-most sacks per game in the NFL so far this season (3.7). With only 5 sacks on the year, the 49ers haven't been able to pressure the quarterback as much as they have wanted to, but that may change on Sunday. Eagles' quarterback Carson Wentz has made habit of holding onto the ball longer than he should and that could play right into San Francisco's hands
3. Neither Team has Over 300 Yards of Total Offense
In a game that is lining up to be a defensive battle, it could be tough for these two offenses to find much momentum. Both teams rank in the top five of the NFL in yards allowed per game and they will look to prove their dominance on Sunday Night Football. The 49ers are No. 3 in the league giving up 304.0 yards per game and the Eagles are No. 5 giving up 330.7 yards per game. Watch for the defenses to step up in this game as both teams struggle to get their offenses going.
