Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season kicks off tonight with a Thursday Night Football clash between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently have the Bills pegged as 2.5-point road favorites.

Some might be surprised to see the Rams as underdogs, especially coming off of their Super Bowl LVI victory. Needless to say, Los Angeles shouldn't be counted out at home, making an upset at SoFi Stadium a real possibility.

Here are three reasons why the Rams will upset the Bills in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.

Bills vs Rams Week 1

1. Rams are Defending Super Bowl Champions

Even though it happened about seven months ago, fans shouldn't forget about the Rams' Super Bowl run. As great as the Bills have been in recent years, they haven't come close to achieving that level of success. Los Angeles is still elite on both sides of the ball after this offseason. Plus, the Rams' championship run gave the type of big-game experience to their players that should make them even more dangerous. Even if the Bills have better Super Bowl LVII odds than their upcoming opponents, you can never count out Matthew Stafford and co. — especially as the defending champs.

2. Cooper Kupp

Sometimes, one single player can be the difference-maker in an upset win. This week, that man could be the Rams' No. 1 wide receiver, Cooper Kupp. The 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year couldn't be stopped last season, pacing the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16). While the Bills have great WRs like Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, neither player was even close to being on Kupp's level last season. Considering Stafford's chemistry with his top pass-catcher, Kupp will be busy early and often. Even with Buffalo's improved defense, slowing him down will be tough and it won't be shocking if the former Eastern Washington product propels Los Angeles to victory.

3. SoFi Stadium Atmosphere

Since opening in 2020, SoFi Stadium has brought the Rams a lot of success. Los Angeles is an impressive13-5 in its last 18 home games (regular season + playoffs) and even won Super Bowl LVI on home soil. With the Rams celebrating their championship run tonight, their fans will be loud and disruptive. Considering that Buffalo is an underwhelming 3-4 in its last seven road games, upsetting the Bills can be done.
