Veteran defensive end Melvin Ingram heads into the offseason as a free agent after finishing up what was his ninth season with the Los Angeles Chargers. He only appeared in seven games due to injury, but the three-time Pro Bowler will look to have a bounce-back campaign in 2021.

Teams are always looking to build up depth and experience along the defensive line, and adding a player like Ingram to the mix could be in the plans for many NFL front offices. With that in mind, here are the three most likely free agent destinations for Melvin Ingram.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the middle of a complete rebuild, but signing a player like Ingram could bring stability and experience to their defensive line. The Jaguars finished tied for last in the NFL, averaging just 1.1 sacks per game last season, which was a major downgrade from the 2.9 they averaged in 2019. Jacksonville is projected to have the highest amount of available cap space this offseason, according to Over the Cap. They have the money to sign whoever they want this season and Ingram could be in for a hefty payday if he decides this is the way to go.

2. Cleveland Browns

If Ingram wants to join an immediate contender instead of getting paid more money, a team like the Cleveland Browns seems like the perfect fit. The veteran is longing for a Super Bowl title and the Browns could use some help along their defensive line. Having Ingram line up alongside Myles Garrett would create a nightmare matchup for opposing offensive lines. The Browns are projected to have over $21 million in cap space and could easily afford to sign Ingram to a 1-3 year contract. Ingram is likely motivated to improve after a few down seasons and Cleveland could be the place he turns it all back around.

3. Los Angeles Chargers

When you have a player that has spent his entire NFL career with one team, the possibility of him re-signing is always going to be apparent. Ingram was selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft and has been a mainstay on the Chargers' defense ever since. The team finished 7-9 last season, but seem to have a lot of upside, led by a strong defense and a young quarterback in Justin Herbert. However, Ingram is coming off of his first season without recording a sack in his career and the Chargers may be inclined to use their available cap space elsewhere. It'll be interesting to see what the front office decides to do.
