3 Greatest Quarterbacks in Wisconsin History

The Wisconsin Badgers football program's identity throughout their history has been a power running team, with a solid defense on the other side. With this formula, they continue to be one of the top teams in the country year in and year out.
However, it could be surprising to know the talent they have had at quarterback go through their program over the years, since they have typically been overshadowed by their running backs. These are the three greatest quarterbacks in Wisconsin history.
3. Darrell Bevell (1992-95)
Darrell Bevell is the all-time leading passer in Wisconsin history, with 7,686 yards and 59 touchdowns. Along with setting program records, Bevell also set the Big Ten record for best completion percentage in a single game, at 94.4 percent. He was able to lead the Badgers to its first ever Rose Bowl win in the 1993-94 season, after finishing as Big Ten co-champions.
2. Brooks Bollinger (1999-2002)
Playing four seasons at Wisconsin, Brooks Bollinger ranks fourth all-time in passing yards, with 5,627 yards and 38 touchdowns. Much like one more Badger great to come later on this list, Bollinger also added rushing production to go along with all of the other rushing success the Badgers had. Bollinger racked up 1,767 yards and 26 touchdowns on the ground during his four seasons.
1. Russell Wilson (2011)
Russell Wilson was one and done at Wisconsin, transferring to Madison after three seasons at NC State. However, that one season was one of the most dominant in Wisconsin history, with him and Montee Ball both having terrific seasons. Wilson was able to complete 72.8 percent of his passes for 3,175 yards and 33 touchdowns to just four interceptions. While the Badgers has plenty of rushing elsewhere, Wilson added another 338 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, leading Wisconsin to a Rose Bowl appearance.
