3 Free Agents the Bills Can Sign With New Cap Space Following Opt-Outs

The opt-out period for the NFL has come to an end, with a total of 66 players deciding to sit out of the 2020 NFL season. Some teams were affected by this more than others. For the Buffalo Bills, veteran defensive tackle Star Lotulelei and cornerback E.J. Gaines were the only two players that chose to opt out.
With roughly $24 million in cap space, Buffalo does have enough room to add some real talent on one-year deals. Here are three free agents that the Bills could sign to improve their team.
Official cap space post-opt outs (1-11):
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) August 7, 2020
1. CLE: $40,468,180
2. NE: $33,431,135
3. WAS: $30,634,658
4. DEN: $29,541,191
5. NYJ: $29,266,652
6. TEN: $25,199,921
7. MIA: $24,650,560
8. BUF: $24,288,558
9. PHI: $23,749,246
10. DET: $22,933,007
11. IND: $22,256,027
3. Damon Harrison, DT
To replace the presence of Lotulelei on the interior defensive line, the Bills could sign another veteran defensive tackle, in Damon "Snacks" Harrison. He is known as a big run stopper up front and he will be useful for contending at the top of the AFC. Harrison totaled 27 defensive stops and six pressures last season for the Detroit Lions.
2. Logan Ryan, CB
The Bills lost Gaines, so it could be nice to add another cornerback. Logan Ryan is the best corner available. He enjoyed arguably his best season with the Tennessee Titans last year, totaling four interceptions, 18 passes defended, 113 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Ryan would be an immediate upgrade over Buffalo's current slot corner Taron Johnson.
1. Everson Griffen, DE
The Bills' defense racked up 44 sacks last season, good for the 12th-best total in the league. That's good, but Buffalo will need to be even better to knock off the defending Super Bowl champs in the AFC. Everson Griffen may be 32 years old, but he has plenty left in the tank. Last season, he totaled 8.0 sacks, 24 quarterback hits and 11 tackles for a loss. He's a force off the edge and he could instantly make an impact for the team.
