3 Easiest Games on the Vikings Schedule in 2022

With a new head coach and general manager, the Minnesota Vikings look to enter a new era in the 2022 NFL season. Things are already looking promising for them as they have the eighth-easiest schedule next campaign, according to ESPN's Mike Clay.
Although th Vikings are fortunate to have this favorable schedule, some of their upcoming opponents are easier than others. If Minnesota can take advantage of those matchups, a playoff appearance isn't out of the question.
Here's a look at the three easiest games on the Vikings' 2022 NFL schedule.
Minnesota Vikings Schedule 2022
1. @/vs. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are one team that the Vikings have dominated in recent history. Minnesota is 8-1 in its last nine games against their NFC North rivals, scoring 24-plus points in seven of those meetings. Even though the Lions have made improvements over the offseason, it's hard not to like what the Vikings have done against them recently. Quarterback Kirk Cousins is also averaging 340 passing yards in his last three games against the Lions and if he can continue that trend, it's hard to imagine the Vikings losing either matchup.
2. vs. New York Jets
A home date against the New York Jets should be another juicy matchup for the Vikings — especially Dalvin Cook. The Jets surrendered a whopping 138.3 rushing yards per game (No. 29) in 2021. Meanwhile, Cook averaged 89.2 rushing yards per game as he dealt with injuries throughout the season. Now that he's healthier, the 26-year-old RB will be a major issue for the Jets, despite any defensive improvements they made. Additionally, Minnesota's defense has a solid matchup against QB Zach Wilson, who threw 11 interceptions in 13 games as a rookie.
3. vs. New York Giants
The Vikings are fortunate enough to have both New York-based teams on their 2022 schedule. Like the Jets, the Giants have been bottom-feeders in the NFL for the last several years. Head coach Brian Daboll should help improve the team's offense, but it remains to be seen if QB Daniel Jones can take that next step. The Vikings have also won three straight games against the Giants, outscoring them by a combined 101-37 in that span. The Giants still have much to prove before their taken seriously, which is why the Vikings must take advantage of this favorable matchup while they can.
