3 Dolphins Players in Danger of Losing Their Starting Jobs in the 2020 NFL Season
By Tristan Jung

The Miami Dolphins are continuing to rebuild under head coach Brian Flores. After a 5-11 season that saw some late bright spots, the Dolphins added a huge draft class and made several offseason signings to fill out the roster.

With a new infusion of talent, there will be plenty of players competing for starting roles. Here are three starters who could face a serious challenge in 2020.
1. Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB
With Tua Tagovailoa going fifth overall, 37-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick's days as the Dolphins' starting quarterback are numbered. Despite some late-season heroics, Fitzpatrick was a below-average quarterback last year by passer rating and yards per attempt. There's little to suggest that Tagovailoa can win the job from Fitzpatrick by Week 1, but we should see the former Alabama star on the field at some point in 2020. Don't feel too bad for Fitzpatrick: he'll end 2020 with over $70 million in career earnings and should land yet another backup quarterback job.
2. Julie'n Davenport, LT
Coming over in the Laremy Tunsil trade, Julie'n Davenport was a solid option at left tackle when healthy in 2019. However, with No. 18 overall pick Austin Jackson coming into the fold, Davenport could find his role diminished at some point during the season. Davenport should have the Week 1 starting spot due to his experience, but it's no guarantee that he can stay there, especially with his injury history.
3. Bobby McCain, FS
Bobby McCain has spent his entire six-year career with the Miami Dolphins, playing linebacker, cornerback, and free safety. However, a season-ending shoulder surgery was a major setback, and the addition of first-round linebacker Noah Igbinoghene should limit his options to free safety. Adrian Colbert, Clayton Fejedelem, and third-round pick Brandon Jones should all be in competition for the safety spot next year too.
