Some good showings from longshots in the Tokyo Olympics, along with USA Gold Medal winner Xander Schauffele, who is one of the leading favorites at this week's WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. So is Brooks Koepka (+1100) as the top favorite, who joins Dustin Johnson (+1800) as the top-2 golfers in total strokes gained over 28 rounds played at TPC Southwind. Johnson also leads in approach, tee-to-green and ball striking, which are key stats to the overall game needed to succeed and contend at the World Golf Championship event in Memphis.

But beyond the leading favorites to win and players near the top of the golf odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, there are plenty of other ways to bet and dark horse picks that can win or cash in for a top finishing position.

WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational Golf 2021 Dark Horses

1. Patrick Cantlay (+2300)

Eight other golfers have lower odds to win than Patrick Cantlay, who was playing among the very best golf on Tour in June when he won and had three top-15 finishes. His overall game and stats suggest he's a legit contender and dark horse at slightly longer odds who has top-10 stats in tee-to-green and approach. Those are key stats this week on a par 70 course where where par 4 scoring becomes more important and four longer and difficult par 4's rank among the five toughest holes. Cantlay ranks top-5 in par 4 scoring this season on Tour, and he has proven success at TPC Southwind with five rounds of 68 or better his last two years in the event and some solid strokes gained stats.

2. Tyrrell Hatton (+4300)

Each week on Tour, you see players out-perform their stat profiles and expectations, and others bomb out and miss the cut. In searching for value, Tyrrell Hatton fits the bill as one of the top-15 ranked players in the world who could sharpen his game up and find his groove after missing the cut in two recent majors. But Hatton has had success on some comp courses, and his strong top-15 stat profiles over his last 24 rounds on tee-to-green, ball striking and approach make him viable as an undervalued underdog this week.

3. Billy Horschel (+8500)

Billy Horschel is a solid horse for the course who has five top-10 finishes over the years in the St. Jude event. He's done well on Bermuda and other WGC tournaments including a T2 at the WGC-Workday event and winning the WGC-Match Play. A top-10 finish this week earns bettors a +500 return, and Horschel's stats show he's top-12 in strokes gained tee-to-green and off-the-tee over his field-high 32 rounds at TPC Southwind with solid supporting stats in ball striking, around the green and short game.
