Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa reclaimed his opening lead from the initial 2019 Heisman Trophy odds after improving from +300 to +150, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, just days ahead of college football's Week 6 slate.

However, entering Week 6, one running back has been giving the nation's Heisman betting favorite quarterbacks in Tagovailoa, Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts (+340), LSU's Joe Burrow (+600) and Ohio State's Justin Fields (+850) a run for their money – Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor (+950).

Jonathan Taylor Stats

Taylor went into No. 8 Wisconsin's Week 6 matchup with heavy 36-point underdog Kent State with eight rushing touchdowns and three receiving TDs through four games on the season. Less than 31 minutes of game action later, Taylor had scored all five of Wisconsin's first TDs of the game, with four TDs on the ground and one through the air.

After Taylor's 186 rushing yards and five scores helped the Badgers race out to a 35-0 lead, his day was done with double digits remaining on the third-quarter clock.

While the Heisman Trophy has become all but a quarterback's award, if Taylor continues to put up numbers the way he has through Week 6 for the Badgers, we could a change in this recent pattern come December.

Behind Taylor at running back, Georgia's D'Andre Swift (+4600), Ohio State's J.K. Dobbins (+4600) and Clemson' Travis Etienne (+5000) are the next-best Heisman candidates at the position.
