BYU quarterback Zach Wilson is one of a handful of prospects hoping to be the second QB selected after Clemson's Trevor Lawrence likely comes off the board at No. 1 overall. While Ohio State's Justin Fields finished his season with a National Championship appearance, there's hype building around Wilson's potential at the next level.
Former NFL QB David Carr is the latest to join the bandwagon, offering a crazy pro comparison for the young quarterback.
Carr sees flashes of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen in Wilson, which is pretty much the highest praise a prospect can get.
"You go through rolls and rolls of tape and you watch these guys play, but when I watch a guy like Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes, those guys just jump off the screen. Zach Wilson has that type of ability in his arm and how he sees the field and how he understands his offense and where to go with it."- David Carr
Wilson just finished an impressive junior season that has solidified his standing as one of the best quarterbacks in this 2021 class. He threw for 33 TDs and 3,692 yards while adding another 254 yards and 10 TDs on the ground.
While Wilson is an expected top-10 pick, with all of the hype he's generating before the draft, it'd be no surprise to see a team move up into the top five in order to secure a QB who's being associated with Mahomes and Allen.
