With big-name players like Anthony Harris, Justin Simmons and Devin McCourty off the market, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Adrian Phillips are arguably the two best safeties available in free agency.

Both will be 28 years old at the end of next season, and the two safeties are coming off some really impressive 2019 campaigns. So with that in mind, let's break down which safety you'd rather sign next season.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Free Agency

Clinton-Dix has been up and down throughout the course of his career, but he played really well with the Chicago Bears last season. The six-year veteran racked up 78 tackles with 2 interceptions and 1 defensive touchdown in 2019. He was also excellent in coverage, allowing a 67.0 passer rating when targeted in coverage.

The recipient of a 72.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, Clinton-Dix is an above-average safety who has never missed a game at the NFL level.

Adrian Phillips Free Agency

While he's the lesser-known name of the two (for relatively obvious reasons), Phillips was excellent in his injury-shortened 2019 campaign. He received a stellar 87.5 grade from PFF, and a 86.9 grade in pass coverage. It's fair to wonder if that was partially due to a limited sample size, though, as he received a 66.2 grade across a full 16-game season in 2018.

Still, he recorded 94 tackles, 4 tackles for loss 1 interception and 1 forced fumble that year. Phillips is a bona fide playmaker, and if a team can stomach the injury risk, he'd be a great addition to any secondary.

Clinton-Dix is likely the more talented option of the two, but Phillips should come with a lower price tag. At the end of the day, though, Clinton-Dix's durability gives him the edge over Phillips, who has missed a combined 12 games over the past four seasons.
