When the Washington Football Team signed Curtis Samuel this past offseason, he was expected to bring a new element to one of the league's worst offenses from 2020. Unfortunately, Samuel has yet to see the field. From the COVID list to injuries, Samuel missed much of the team's offseason work and now the first two games of the season.

However, there's now some encouraging signs toward a return to the field for Samuel. He was seen running with a helmet on at practice, albeit on the sidelines. Still, a positive sign considering he's barely done even something as simple as that since joining Washington.

A little less than two weeks ago, Samuel was placed on Injured Reserve with a groin injury, an injury he re-aggravated during practice earlier in the year.

Being on the IR means Samuel can't come back for three weeks, which will keep him out this week when Washington takes on the Bills in Buffalo, but Week 4 looks like it could be a possibility.

Nothing is concrete, but these are all good signs. It will definitely be a situation to monitor closely over the next couple of weeks.

Washington heads into Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Bills as 8.5-point road underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL lines.
