Week 9 Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Broncos vs Cowboys
Two teams heading in opposite directions will meet in Week 9 as the Denver Broncos (4-4) pay a visit to the Dallas Cowboys (6-1). FanDuel Sportsbook is projecting a big Dallas win with the Cowboys being favored by 9.5 points.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 9 clash.
Courtland Sutton Fantasy
Start Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos: The Cowboys have shocked a lot of people with their solid defense this season. Nevertheless, Dallas is still surrendering the eighth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers (32.6). Meanwhile, Courtland Sutton has been Denver's best wide receiver this season, leading the team in targets (62), receptions (40) and receiving yards (579). He's been on the field for at least 87% of Denver's offensive snaps over the last five weeks as well. With the Broncos likely trailing, Sutton could see a lot of work.
Amari Cooper Fantasy
Start Amari Cooper, WR, Dallas Cowboys: Amari Cooper was an offensive dynamo in Week 8, finishing with an 8-122-1 stat line. It was good enough for 26.2 points in PPR, ranking him tied for the WR5 spot. The Broncos are surrendering 166 receiving yards per game to wideouts (15th) and haven't faired well against championship-quality teams this season. Considering how Cooper was targeted a whopping 13 times in Week 8, it makes sense for the Cowboys to ride the hot hand by heavily relying on him again this Sunday.
Javonte Williams Fantasy
Sit Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos: There was a time at the start of the season when it looked like Javonte Williams was going to take the No. 1 job in Denver's backfield. That time has passed. Williams went from averaging 13 carries in his first three games to 7.8 over the subsequent five and has one total touchdown during that span. While he still sees work in Denver's passing game, the Cowboys are still allowing the eighth-fewest fantasy points to RBs. With Williams playing 50% or less of Denver's snaps in all but one week, there are better options at the position this week.
Dalton Schultz Fantasy
Sit Dalton Schultz, TE, Dallas Cowboys: After making at least five receptions in four straight outings, Dalton Schultz had caught just two of seven targets in Week 8 for 11 yards. Next up is a difficult matchup against a Broncos defense that's allowing 5.9 fantasy PPG to tight ends — the third-fewest average. While the Cowboys will still look to Schultz, wideout Michael Gallup could be returning this week. The fourth-year WR saw seven targets in his only game this season, so it wouldn't be shocking to see a few of Schultz's find their way to Gallup.
