The 2021 PGA Championship is set to tee off this Thursday, May 20 at Kiawah Island Resort's Ocean Course. With the world's top players ready to compete for the second major of the year on the golf calendar, we should be in for an exciting tournament.

Kiawah Island Weather

Weather can be a huge factor in a golf tournament. While the golfers aren't always forced to play in tougher elements, precipitation of any kind can effect the course long after it has stopped. Creating softer greens and fairways, providing more control but less distance.

And on the Kiawah Island Ocean Course, one of the windiest in the world, wind speed and direction can play a big role as well.

Taking a look at the forecast for this week's tournament at Kiawah Island it seems like it's going to be a really great week of weather. There is expected to be some light rain on Wednesday morning, which could soften the course up a bit for the first round of the tournament on Thursday.

After that however, it looks like it's going to be clear sunshine all week. With temperatures in the 70's and 80's expected from Thursday through Sunday.

That will be accompanied by some wind throughout, coming from the East. The average speeds won't be all that high, hovering around 10-11 MPH, but gusts as high as 17 MPH are being called for. Luckily for the golfers, the most extreme wind this weekend (gusts up to 27 MPH) is only be called for in the evenings. Let's hope it stays that way.
