The Miami Marlins have an important three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on tap for the weekend and are calling upon a top pitching prospect to make his MLB debut. His name would be Max Meyer and the team broke the news by tweeting an awesome video of him learning about it.

Marlins fans have been anxiously awaiting Meyer's call to the majors ever since he was selected No. 3 overall during the 2020 MLB Draft. They won't have to wait any longer. The excitement from Meyer himself is evident when a huge smile comes across his face in front of the Triple-A coaching staff.
Meyer started his career at the Double-A level, where he pitched to a 2.41 ERA through 20 starts in 2021. His success earned him a promotion to Triple-A toward the end of the season. The 23-year-old has been rising up MLB's top prospects list the entire time, where he currently ranks No. 21 overall.
In 2022, Meyer has simply kept on cruising. He is 3-4 on the year with a 3.69 ERA and a minuscule 0.97 WHIP. Meyer has also racked up 69 strikeouts compared to 19 walks in 61.0 innings pitched. The Minnesota product is slated to make his first MLB start on Saturday in front of the home crowd.
While Meyer's devastating slider allows him to regularly confuse hitters, he still needs to work on his fastball command to avoid a move to the bullpen. He'll have a chance to put it all together on a Marlins team that has odds set at +15000 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
