The New England Patriots never quite had a "star" running back during Tom Brady's tenure, aside from one year of a prime Corey Dillon, but few players were more productive in Bill Belichick's system than LeGarrette Blount.

While Blount was not a human highlight reel, his strength was displayed in full during the 2016 AFC Championship Game when he dragged seven Pittsburgh Steelers defenders to the goal line.

2016 was Blount's best year of his career. During his second tenure with the Patriots, he scored 18 touchdowns and rushed for 1,161 yards, establishing himself as the Patriots' lead ball carrier. But this play ensured he'd be fondly remembered forever.

During the third quarter, the Patriots were driving up 20-9 on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Blount got the carry from the 19-yard line and burst through for a first down. He shed one Steelers defender before a swarm of would-be tacklers got to him. Amazingly, Blount carried all the defenders, eventually numbering to seven Steelers, another seven yards to the goal line. A few seconds later, he plunged into the end zone for a one-yard score. This touchdown effectively sealed the game for the Patriots.

Blount was always one of the strongest backs in the NFL, and his ability to block, maintain ball security and run downhill endeared him to the Patriots coaching staff.

The Patriots would go on to win the game, 36-17, and they'd eventually go on to win Super Bowl LI over the Atlanta Falcons.
