The Chicago Cubs may be sitting at home for the 2022 MLB postseason, but that doesn't stop the younger players in this franchise from working hard to improve their skills. And ultimately, a chance at cracking the big league roster in 2023.

This includes first baseman Matt Mervis, who is currently playing in the Arizona Fall League. Mervis had a heck of a night playing for the Solar Sox on Thursday. The 24-year-old mashed a pair of home runs, including this no-doubter in the bottom of the 7th.

Check out the video below.

The infamous crack of the bat tells us everything we need to know: this ball was mashed. Mervis also hit another big fly in the 3rd inning of this contest, all as part of a 3-for-4, 4-RBI effort.

Mervis is currently ranked No. 21 in the Cubs' farm system, according to MLB.com's list of top prospects. After attending Duke, he was not taken in the shortened five-round 2020 Draft but signed with Chicago as a nondrafted free agent.
