The Tennessee Volunteers finally got the best of their long-time, in-state rival Vanderbilt Commodores to end a three-year losing streak last season, and it certainly doesn't look like the oddsmakers believe last year's power shift in this series is going to change back this year either.
Even with the 2020 college football offseason experiencing some unprecedented spring delays and cancellations, the odds and spreads around more than 100 of this fall's biggest matchups are now available on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Tennessee vs Vanderbilt Spread 2020
Sitting months away from the 115th edition of this in-state SEC rivalry, Tennessee has already opened as a compelling 13-point favorite to beat the Commodores on the road in Nashville later this fall, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Despite besting Vanderbilt, 28-10, last year, the Commodores have still won three of the past four meetings with the Volunteers at home in Vanderbilt Stadium. But I'm sure neither fanbase has forgotten that Tennessee had won the previous 14 straight matchups in this series on the road before that, a winning streak that spanned from 1984 to 2010.
After an alarmingly poor start to the year, Tennessee had one of the strongest finishes to the 2019-20 season in the country, winning six straight games, which included a 13-point, 4th-quarter comeback win over Indiana in the 2020 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
Meanwhile in Nashville, Vanderbilt limped to a 3-9 overall finish and 1-7 SEC record to mark their worst season since 2014. Needless to say, the momentum is clearly turning in this rivalry heading into 2020.
There's still plenty of time for things to change between now and this 2020 rivalry kickoff, but the Volunteers remain overwhelming early favorites for the time being. Barring any scheduling changes we may see, Vanderbilt is currently set to host Tennessee at Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020.
