The MLB world was sent into a frenzy Tuesday night after Luke Voit's controversial slide attempt against Tyler Stephenson. Many have called the extra contact Voit initiated as dirty, especially given how Stephenson was severely shaken up in the process.

Stephenson's teammates have already weighed in on the collision, and now Stephenson has responded as well.

In response to Voit being commended for dishing out "solid contact", Stephenson said on Twitter, "Only thing matters is he was out." It's an epic burn from the Cincinnati Reds catcher, who had to get in a dig at his opponent after his slide attempt was all for naught.

Voit's San Diego Padres teammates and coaches have seemingly defended his actions, saying this outcome couldn't be avoided. Stephenson's teammates, meanwhile, are ready to retaliate.

The fact the unnecessary contact also landed Stephenson in concussion protocols makes the play even worse given how problematic head injuries can be for professional athletes.

Hopefully Stephenson clears protocols and gets to resume his solid start to the season without a hitch. The fact he was in a joking mood after the collision is at least a good sign of him bouncing back quickly.
