The Minnesota Twins began the 2021 MLB season with a hot start, going 5-2 in their first seven games. However, since then, things have been going off the rails as the Twins have lost 11 of their last 13 games. They currently sit in second-last place in the AL Central, six games back of the Royals for first.

To make matters worse, Twins fans will probably hate the team's placement in MLB.com's latest power rankings. Last week, they were a top-10, sitting at No. 6. However, this week is another story as the Twins have plummeted to No. 13.

Despite their lowly record, the Twins have the third-best power ranking spot of all AL Central teams, trailing the Chicago White Sox (No. 6) and Kansas City Royals (No. 7).

While the season is still relatively early, the Twins need to pick up their poor play. They're scoring a modest 4.25 runs per game (17th) but allowing 4.70 (23rd). Even though it's not that much of a difference, it's always tough to have a good record when you're allowing more runs than you're scoring. However, the Twins have the opportunity to make up ground in the AL Central this week as their next six games come against the Royals and Cleveland Indians, who are both ahead of them in the standings.

Even with a lousy record, FanDuel Sportsbook still thinks that the Twins have a shot at a World Series title, listing their odds at +2000. If the Twins want those odds to come to fruition, they need to perform well against their divisional opponents this week.
