Trey Lance Responds to Swirling Trade Rumors

Trade rumors are already running rampant in the days leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft. One of the biggest storylines ahead of the event is the potential availability of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance, who is reportedly being eyed by rival teams amid Brock Purdy's ascension to starter.

After many have given their thoughts on the situation, Lance himself has finally weighed in.

Lance didn't want to dive too deep into the current rumors. He said "I got no comment on that" before adding, "I have no information."

Obviously this is a delicate situation, so it's no surprise the third-year QB doesn't want to discuss it publicly. Right now, there's also not a ton for the signal-caller to talk about. Teams are calling the 49ers about him, which is out of his control.

All Lance can control is how he responds to this adversity in his young career. San Francisco has deemed Purdy as the leader in the clubhouse to be the team's 2023 starter, but nothing is written in stone. The job is there for the taking, especially with Purdy on the mend after offseason elbow surgery.

Still, Lance trade rumors will continue swirling as the first round of the draft approaches on Thursday. If there was a time for a deal to come to fruition, this would certainly be it, as a number of franchises could come calling if they miss out on their top QB targets in this year's draft.
