The tight end position has been strong at the top this season, but once we get beyond the elite fantasy producers, there's a ton of variance.

With such inconsistency, there aren't many players that you can consider locks as weekly starters. Instead, fantasy football owners can find an edge by combing the waiver wire for the TEs with the best matchups to get into your starting lineup each week.

These three tight ends, all available in at least 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, are the top streaming TE options for Week 14.

3. Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins (19% Owned)

The Miami Dolphins may be struggling, but their offense has really picked up in the second half of the season. They've scored at least 20 points in three of their five games since the midway point of the regular season, and that has coincided with a big uptick in volume for Mike Gesicki. The sophomore TE has at least six targets in each of those five games, averaging 4.2 receptions, 49.6 yards and 11.2 PPR fantasy points per game. That average would rank 10th at the position for the entire season.

2. Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (11% Owned)

Don't expect a repeat of last week, but Tyler Higbee's role has exploded with Gerald Everett on the shelf. He benefited in a big way from a matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, but Higbee saw eight targets while playing 91 percent of the Los Angeles Rams' offensive snaps in Week 12. He also notched six targets with Everett making an early exit in Week 12. He does draw another favorable matchup this week as well, taking on a Seattle Seahawks defense that has allowed the second-most PPR points per game to the position.

1. Vance McDonald, Pittsburgh Steelers (50% Owned)

Drawing that Cardinals matchup I touched on above, Vance McDonald gets a huge boost in Week 14. The gap between the Cards, giving up the most fantasy points to the position, and the Seahawks is massive — bigger than between the Seahawks and the 20th-ranked Houston Texans. McDonald has only seen four targets in the last two games combined, but before that he had seven in three straight, and he's still played at least 85 percent of the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive snaps in each of those last two matchups. That kind of volume is more than enough to make him a terrific play against the Cards (who elevate any starting TE into fantasy consideration), and McDonald checks in at TE5 in our Week 14 PPR fantasy football rankings.
