Titans GM Provides Strong Response to Derrick Henry Trade Rumors
The Tennsee Titans hired a new GM this offseason, stealing Ran Carthon from the well-respected San Francisco 49ers front office to help guide this team into the future. A future some see as a rebuild on the horizon, but not Carthon.
Rumors have swirled all offseason about the Titans potentially dealing away superstar running back Derrick Henry. Carthon is completely rejecting that idea, calling the mere suggestion that he's considering it "erroneous."
When asked about the reports that suggested Carthon was shopping Henry, he responded:
"There's nothing new to report. There was an erroneous report that came out. I've spoken to Todd (France), Derrick's representative, and we're in a good place. So, there's nothing new to report from there. I know Derrick trains like crazy in the location where he trains -- I know the location, I don't want to put it out there -- but Derrick is going to be Derrick. He's going to take his time away and do what he has to do to make sure that he's ready to go. So, feel we're in a good place."- Titans GM Ran Carthon
He made it pretty clear how he feels about both the suggestion he would trade Henry, and the All-Pro running back.
If the Titans want to compete in 2023, Henry will need to be on the roster. The team has built the foundation of its offense around the former Alabama running back. With questions about quarterback Ryan Tannehill's viability and effectiveness moving forward, Henry becomes that much more valuable in Tennessee.
