It's been a tough season for the Detroit Tigers, but whenever the worst team in the MLB has a shot to take down the league's best ball club on the road, there's always chance to make upset history.

And that's exactly what the Tigers did in their 2-1 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night. After heading into last night's game as a +460 moneyline underdog, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, Detroit became just the second +400 or greater MLB moneyline underdog to win in 15 years.

Adding to the underdog element, the Tigers even got the better of Astros' ace and former Cy Young-winning starter Justin Verlander on the mound, handing him a loss in the start.

As if that wasn't enough perspective on the magnitude of this upset, just remember the Tigers went into Wednesday night with +100000 odds to win the 2019 World Series compared to the Astros' league-leading +220 odds.

Unfortunately for Detroit, this could be one of the last real highlights of the 2019 season, but at least the 38-86 Tigers got something to cheer for in Wednesday night's win.
