Week 5 is here, and Thursday Night Football kicks off with a divisional clash between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks.
Thursday Night Football Fantasy Picks
If you need some help building your fantasy lineup, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this NFC West showdown.
Van Jefferson Fantasy
Start Van Jefferson, WR, Los Angeles Rams: Van Jefferson's usage is on an upward trajectory. After seeing just 6 targets combined in the first two games, he's recorded at least 6 targets in each of the past two contests. That led to a season-best 6 catches for 90 yards and a score last week against the Arizona Cardinals. Seattle's secondary is full of holes for the deep threat to exploit, as the Seahawks are allowing the fifth-most passing yards per game (292.5) and 11th-most fantasy points to WRs (40.65). He has serious FLEX appeal here.
Alex Collins Fantasy
Start Alex Collins, RB, Seattle Seahawks: If the currently questionable Chris Carson doesn't suit up on Thursday, Alex Collins is worthy of a start. Collins is already coming off of a standout week, totaling 15.8 PPR points while splitting touches with Carson. In fact, Collins was more productive (10 carries, 46 yards, 1 TD) than Carson (13 carries, 30 yards) in that Week 4 matchup, which bodes well for his upside if he is the lead back. LA hasn't been as stingy as usual against running backs this season, either. They're giving up the 11th-most PPR points per game (26.0) to the position. It'd be wise of Seattle to lean on the run game to keep the Rams' high-powered offense off of the field, which could mean a busy day for Collins.
Sony Michel Fantasy
Sit Sony Michel, RB, Los Angeles Rams: Sony Michel hasn't done enough to be relevant outside of filling in for Darrell Henderson as starter in Week 3. Michel has recorded 34 rushes for 126 yards (3.7 yards per attempt) in four games, meanwhile Henderson has racked up 212 yards on just 43 rushes (4.9 Y/A). Henderson has been more productive, and he's also the preferred option in the passing game. Michel's only targets this season came in Week 3 with Henderson sidelined. Michel is solely a bench stash as a handcuff for Henderson.
Russell Wilson Fantasy
Sit Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks: Russell Wilson could be in for a long day the office. So far, Russ and this offense haven't hit the new heights they were expecting after some offseason changes. The offensive line remains an issue, as the Seahawks have given up 2.8 sacks per game (tied for the eighth-highest mark in the league). The Rams are a nightmare matchup for a struggling O-line, as they currently average the sixth-most sacks on opposing QBs (3.0) per game. Also throw in the fact that Seattle could be without starting running back Chris Carson, and LA may bring the pressure all night to disrupt the passing game. It's very difficult to see Wilson and a below-average air attack getting on track against a secondary headlined by Jalen Ramsey.
