Dak Prescott's ongoing contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys have been one of the biggest storylines of the past two offseasons. While Prescott's play took a major step forward in 2019, the Cowboys didn't follow suit, posting an 8-8 record.

That difference has only clouded negotiations further, and the two don't appear to be particularly close to a resolution. However, this key stat proves Dallas should do everything in its power to re-sign the 26-year-old passer.

Last season, there were only eight quarterbacks with an average salary of at least $30 million. Prescott, now among those eight, was the only quarterback with a QBR above 70.0 in 2019 – topping even Russell Wilson (69.8).

He out-performed some pretty impressive company, posting a better QBR than stars like Aaron Rodgers (50.4), his division-rival Carson Wentz (60.8) and Matt Ryan (57.6). Prescott also had the second-most passing yards in the NFL last season (4,902), averaged the eighth-most adjusted yards per attempt (AY/A; 8.4) and led Dallas to an NFL-best 6.5 yards per play.

No matter what metric you look at, Prescott is one of the most-efficient quarterbacks in the NFL, and he's still just 26 years old. Dallas would be wise to lock him up to a long-term deal as soon as possible.
