The AFC East features some of the fiercest rivalries in the NFL, with fans that would sooner stop watching football than switch allegiances. This isn't always the case with the players, however, as the conference seems to feature an unusual number of players moving to rivals in free agency.

With that in mind, the New England Patriots would be well served to try stealing Trent Murphy away from the Buffalo Bills when he becomes an unrestricted free agent following the 2020 NFL season.

A second-round pick for the Washington Redskins in 2014, Murphy came to Buffalo in 2018 and didn't have a great first season. He really bounced back in 2019, however, racking up 5.0 sacks, 9 tackles for loss and 9 quarterback hits. He also received a 74.2 overall grade, including 73.0 against the run, from Pro Football Focus.

Chase Winovich had a strong season on the edge for the Pats in 2019, but with just one year in the pros under his belt, he's certainly not a lock to be a long-term stud. And on the other side, rookie Josh Uche may have been a draft-day steal, but the rookie is of course entirely unproven, as is fellow rookie Anfernee Jennings.

A veteran presence like Murphy could make a big difference in the New England defense, and stealing him away from Buffalo to weaken the Bills defense would be a nice bonus.
