The annual bowl games are one of the most exciting parts of being an NCAA college football fan. This year's slate of games is projected to be entertaining as always, including the Music City Bowl. This year's game will be played between the Tennessee Volunteers and Purdue Boilermakers.

FanDuel Sportsbook has Tennessee edging out Purdue as the 4.5-point opening favorite, with -115 odds to cover.

Opening Music City Bowl Odds

Beyond the spread, the Volunteers also open the week as -205 moneyline favorites. Meanwhile, the Boilermakers sit at +164 odds as the early underdogs.

Tennessee is 1-1 in two previous Music City Bowl appearances, with the school's most recent appearance ending in a 38-24 victory over Nebraska. Considering how the bowl game is played in Tennessee, the Volunteers will likely have some sort of home-state advantage again this year.

On the other hand, this will be Purdue's second-ever appearance at the annual event. The Boilermakers made their Music City Bowl debut in 2018, getting blown out by Alabama to the tune of a 63-14 final score.

This month's meeting will mark the second-ever head-to-head matchup between Tennessee and Purdue. The Boilermakers edged out the Volunteers, 27-22, in the first meeting way back on Dec. 31, 1979.

The 2021 Music City Bowl will take place at 3 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 30 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN.
