Teddy Bridgewater Trade Looks Even Better for Broncos With New Contract Details Revealed

After making a big splash to acquire Teddy Bridgewater from the Carolina Panthers ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos solidified another win with his contract. Bridgewater and the Broncos agreed to a restructured deal, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, and this deal is very team-friendly to say the least.

Teddy Bridgewater Contract
Per the new terms of his contract, Bridgewater is set to receive $11.5 million for the remaining year on the deal. Denver understands that Bridgewater may not be the long-term solution under center but that's a reasonable figure for an average quarterback.
The best part of this restructured deal involves Bridgewater's former team, the Carolina Panthers. Denver will only owe less than half of this $11.5 million with the Panthers set to pay his $7 million signing bonus.
This one-year deal also leaves Bridgewater in control of his own destiny. His 2021 performance will dictate his next contract and it's up to the six-year veteran to earn his next paycheck. Bridgewater started 15 games for the Panthers last season while throwing for 3,733 yards, 15 touchdowns and a 92.1 rating.
If Bridgewater enjoys a successful 2021 campaign, that's great for the Broncos. If not, it's really no harm, no foul with this team-friendly contract. At the end of the day, it's still a potential upgrade from the underwhelming performances of Drew Lock.
