The Seattle Seahawks will travel to take on the Detroit Lions in Week 4. This matchup of 1-2 teams could be a hard-fought battle as each squad looks to get back in the win column following Week 3 losses.

It turns out the Seahawks could be getting some extra intel on the Lions by signing a former Detroit running back to their practice squad ahead of this NFC matchup.

Seattle Seahawks News

Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson reports that Seattle has added Godwin Igwebuike to its practice squad after a successful workout. Though the timing is notable, it's almost surely just a coincidence. Backup RB Travis Homer sustained a rib injury in Week 3, so it's likely the Seahawks wanted an insurance option available in case he's not ready to go anytime soon.

Igwebuike played in all 17 games for the Lions last season, all while making the switch from safety to running back. He saw a little work out of the backfield, totaling 178 yards from scrimmage and 1 touchdown on the ground. The former Northwestern standout was featured primarily on special teams, however, where he turned 28 kickoff returns into 697 yards.

Seattle already has an RB stable that features Rashaad Penny, Kenneth Walker, Homer and DeeJay Dallas, but Igwebuike provides another depth piece along with his return skills. His inside knowledge of Detroit is an added plus.

The Seahawks need all the help they can get considering that they're 4.5-point road underdogs this week on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
