Seahawks Make Tough Roster Decision on Veteran Defender

NFL free agency kicks off this week and we have already seen a flurry of moves and signings. The Seattle Seahawks made a tough decision on Monday by revealing that they plan to release defensive lineman Shelby Harris.
Harris came to Seattle as a part of the Russell Wilson trade last offseason and while he was productive, the Seahawks do not want to pay the $9 million owed to him in 2023.
The #Seahawks plan to release DL Shelby Harris, source says. Seattle has explored possible trades but hasn't found a taker yet for the nine-year veteran who played well last season. Harris, who was part of the Russell Wilson deal, was set to make $9 million this upcoming season.

Seattle Seahawks News
Despite searching for a potential trade partner so they could get something in return for Shelby, Seattle failed to do so and now will release him simply for cap relief, something we have seen a lot of the last few days as teams try to create as much space as possible ahead of free agency.
Harris compiled 2.0 sacks, 44 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 6 QB hits in 2022 for the Seahawks. They will now try to replace that production with someone else, presumably at a lower salary number.
Shelby should have no issue finding a new squad in free agency, but what those offers look like is still to be determined.
