NFL training camp is right around the corner, which means veterans and rookies alike are going to be battling it out for the last few roster spots available. Seattle Seahawks insider Brady Henderson recently revealed one veteran free agent signing in danger of being cut before Week 1 arrives.

Henderson explained that wide receiver Marquise Goodwin could be looking for a new team sooner rather than later. Cutting the 31-year-old would only cost the Seahawks a dead cap hit of $152,500. It's an intriguing option considering the younger players on the roster have much higher upside.
Seattle has a top four locked in at the WR position with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Freddie Swain and Dee Eskridge all ready to go after a successful 2021 season. That leaves Goodwin to fight for his job alongside two-year pro Penny Hart and a pair of seventh-round picks in Bo Melton and Dareke Young.
It's unknown at this point whether Goodwin's experience is giving him a leg up in the competition or not. The speedster has accumulated 2,636 yards and 14 touchdowns on 160 catches across eight NFL seasons (89 games). However, Goodwin hasn't posted over 400 yards in one year since 2017.
Seattle is not expected to be a Super Bowl contender this year. In fact, they are tied for the fourth-worst odds to win it all at +13000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The idea of a complete rebuild means Goodwin's low ceiling could end up costing him a roster spot with the Seahawks this fall.
