New Orleans isn't finished, though. On Friday, the Saints restructured star safety Tyrann Mathieu's contract, saving them an additional $4.6 million and change.

New Orleans now has a projected $28.8 million in cap space, according to Spotrac.com's latest figures.
The Saints will need to clear all the cap space they can this offseason if they hope to take a major jump in 2023, which is centered around finding a new quarterback. New Orleans is currently pursuing Derek Carr, but the New York Jets are heavily interested in him as well.
The Saints could still end up with Carr, but they'll need to clear the cap space to do it. With these two moves this week, they are well on their way.
