Saints Re-Sign Young Offensive Lineman Before Free Agency

This is the time of year when the New Orleans Saints are busy clearing cap space ahead of free agency. Just because the Saints are focused on cutting down, though, doesn't mean they can't make any signings of their own.
On Wednesday, it was revealed the team retained a young offensive lineman ahead of free agency.

Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports the Saints re-signed OL Calvin Throckmorton to a one-year deal. The 26-year-old is slated to make $940,000 after inking this new deal.
Throckmorton is coming off of his second season as pro, both of which have been spent in New Orleans. After appearing in 17 games last year, he suited up in 14 contests during the 2022 campaign. Throckmorton's starts dropped from 14 to six this past season, though he still provides a nice depth option moving forward.
Getting lineman who's capable of starting if needed at this price is a solid bargain for the Saints. Considering the team's cap situation, they'll certainly take those any time they can find them this offseason.
