Saints RB Coach Reveals Insane Details About Alvin Kamara Injury Battles in 2019 NFL Season

After an electric 2018 season, expectations were high for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara in 2019. Unfortunately, he disappointed overall. However, running back coach Joel Thomas recent shed some light on the situation.
Saints RB coach Joel Thomas is talking about the season Alvin Kamara had last year. Said no one really knows how much Kamara went through to play with knee, ankle and back injuries. Pointed out body language interpreted as something else, but Kamara was playing through a lot.

It was known that Kamara was not 100 percent healthy last season, shown by him missing two games. However, a common misconception is that players that are on the field are not injured. The Saints running back coach also noted this, saying Kamara was "playing through a lot."
We still do not know the extent of the running back's injuries, but coach Thomas noted he was playing through knee, ankle and back injuries. This trifecta helps to explain him only running for 797 yards and only scoring six total touchdowns.
Assuming Kamara used the offseason to get right, he could be in for a big 2020 season. Somehow, Kamara has totaled 81 receptions in all three of his NFL seasons. If he is healthier and does not miss any games, a 100-catch season is within the realm of possibility.

Kamara has also not averaged five yards per rush since his rookie year. Returning to this form would make the New Orleans offense nearly unstoppable.
