The Boston Red Sox (46-31) have looked impressive so far this season in large part due to the improved play of the starting rotation. Chris Sale Injury Update
This is a great next step as Sale continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. The veteran left-hander has begun throwing to live hitters for the first time in two years. Sale's next goal should be a rehab assignment in the minor leagues, which could happen within the next month.
Although Sale hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2019, no one can deny how dominant he has been when healthy. The 32-year-old pitcher has posted an ERA below 3.00 in two of his three seasons spent in Boston and averages an impressive 13.3 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched in his career.
The Red Sox look poised to make a playoff run this year and adding a seven-time All-Star to the roster late in the season is just the cherry on top. The team currently sports an ERA of 4.12 (No. 15 in MLB) and an average of 9.60 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched (No. 9 in MLB).
Boston currently has odds set at +175 to win the AL East division and odds set at +2000 to take home the World Series title, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
