This 4th of July, just like every one since 1914, the original Coney Island location of Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs will host the world-renowned Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

The event, which has the ladies' competition kicking off at 10:45 a.m. EST followed by the mens' contest at 12 p.m. EST, has become a grand spectacle over the years. People travel from all over the world to come watch in person, as competitive eaters from around the globe try to eat as many hot dogs as possible in a span of 10 minutes.

It has become such a popular event that many bet on it now. Here at The Duel, we have created a printable sheet of fun facts if you are looking to do so, which you can find below, and via this link.

In recent years the event has been dominated by Joey Chestnut, who has won 11 of the last 12 contests. Prior to that, Takeru Kobayashi was the dominant force in the competitive hot dog eating world.

Follow along on ESPN on July 4th to see if Chestnut can retain his title, or if the San Jose native will be dethroned.
