The Detroit Pistons had a scare on Tuesday night when young power forward and former No. 2 overall pick Marvin Bagley went down with a potentially serious knee injury. Thankfully, it seems like the 23-year-old avoided the worst-case scenario.
Marvin Bagley Injury Update
Bagley will still miss the start of the regular season and is projected to be out for 3-4 weeks with a bone bruise and sprained MCL in his right knee, but things could have been much worse. Some had initial fears the injury could have been a season-ending one.
Detroit is one of the more young and potentially exciting young teams in the league, and Bagley is part of that young rebuilding core. Along with Bagley they have former No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham and two exciting rookies in Jaden Ivery and Jalen Duren.
Hopefully Bagley's injury timeline doesn't get any longer than it's now estimated and he's able to make a full recovery to help continue the rebuild in Detroit. The Pistons open the season Wednesday, Oct. 19, at home against Orlando.
