This time is still valuable, though, since its allows Pittsburgh to see some of its young talent in action at the big-league level.

Friday brought exciting news that one top prospect is joining the team for his potential MLB debut.

The Pirates are calling up Ji-hwan Bae to join the team on Friday, according to multiple reports. The 23-year-old infield/outfield talent currently ranks as Pittsburgh's No. 11 prospect in its system.

Bae has worked his way up through the minors after signing with the Pirates in 2018 following his agreement with the Atlanta Braves being voided. The South Korean product made his Triple-A debut this season and has excelled, racking up 8 home runs and 53 RBIs while slashing .289/.362/.430.

Bae has shown off his trademark speed throughout the 2022 season at Triple-A Indianapolis, recording 30 stolen bases in 108 games. He has played all over the diamond this year, logging time at second and third base, shortstop and even centerfield in 2022.
