The Cleveland Browns are coming off their best season of this century and will look to keep building on that momentum heading into 2021. The AFC is loaded with well-rounded contenders, but Cleveland fans will be glad to see the team ranked high in Peter King's power rankings.
King has the Browns locked in at the No. 4 spot citing the team's recent dominance in the NFL draft and sudden depth created at most positions on the roster. Only the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills rank higher amongst AFC teams.
Browns Rise in Power Rankings
The Browns added two defensive players early on in the draft that could each see immediate playing time on the field. Cornerback Greg Newsome could take on starting role in the secondary and linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah could slide in as a sideline-to-sideline playmaker. They will look to help better a defense that gave up 26.6 points per game last year (T-22nd).
With Baker Mayfield seemingly improving every year, Cleveland's offense could take a step up as well. He threw a career-low 8 interceptions last season and tossed 26 touchdowns. His arsenal of weapons will also be upgraded as wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be back after tearing his ACL in 2020.
Overall, the Browns do not have any major weaknesses right now and have the pieces in place to compete with the big dogs in the AFC conference. Cleveland currently has odds set at +145 to win the AFC North division and the 7th-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +1600, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
