The San Diego Padres superstar shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. was pulled was Saturday's game after re-injuring his shoulder that had kept him out earlier this season. He was kept on the sidelines for Sunday's contest as well, but it looks like the Padres got some good news on Monday, as Tatis is expected to be back in the lineup.
Tatis has had a MVP-caliber start to his 2021 campaign. He is hitting .285 with 22 home runs, 50 RBIs and a 1.039 OPS in just 55 games this season.
Getting Tatis back in the lineup is crucial for the Padres, who currently sit in third place in the NL West at 42-32, trailing both the Los Angeles Dodgers (by 3.5 games) and the surprising San Francisco Giants (by 5 games).
Despite being in third place in the division, the Padres have the second-best odds to come away with the NL West crown at +240, trailing only the Dodgers (-230), according to FanDuel Sportsbook''s latest MLB odds.
