With Starling Marte inking a 4-year deal with the New York Mets, there's no debate that Nick Castellanos is the best free-agent outfielder on the market. Coming off a career year in 2021, that saw Castellanos hit. 309 with 100 RBIs and 34 home runs, the 29-year-old outfielder is rightly looking to cash in.

Nick Castellanos Contract

While that was always expected, the details around the contract Castellanos is after have been foggy, but recent reports suggest he's seeking a deal in the range of seven or eight years.

This length of a contract can obviously be a deterrent for some teams that would otherwise be interested or be a fit for Castellanos. The Marlins are a perfect example of a team that could be in play for Castellanos, especially as a Florida native, but operates as a smaller budget team that might not be too keen on handing out a big long-term deal like that.

The Philadelphia Phillies have been another team rumored to be interested, and operate with a much higher payroll.

Obviously, all of these situations are fluid and we don't know everything going on behind closed doors, but at least we now have a small peak at what Castellanos is looking for.
