NBA DFS 1/21/2022

Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Friday, 1/21, NBA DFS action.

FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 1/21

Joel Embiid Fantasy

Target Joel Embiid, C, Philadelphia 76ers ($10,800): The Philadelphia 76ers big might be the second-highest price of any player on today's slate, but he's worth it. Embiid has been on fire in DFS action, scoring 50+ points in 9 of his last 12, including a massive 77.4-point outing on Wednesday. Nikola Jokic just put up nearly 90 points against the Clippers on Wednesday and Embiid should similarly feast against a defense that ranks just 27th in rebounding percentage. Embiid's insane 35.9% usage rate is a must-target on Friday.

Joe Ingles Fantasy

Target Joe Ingles, SG/SF, Utah Jazz ($3,700): Joe Ingles offers DFS players some sneaky value on Friday night. Ingles still averages nearly 25 minutes player per night, and at a minimum salary on the league's best offense (by offensive rating), he offers great bang for his buck. Not to mention, the Detroit Pistons allow the second-worst opponent FG percentage in the NBA and rank 24th in defensive rating.

Andrew Wiggins Fantasy

Target Andrew Wiggins, SF, Golden State Warriors ($6,300): The Golden State Warriors continue to take things slow with Klay Thompson's return and he's scheduled for a day of rest on Friday. This leaves the door wide open for Andrew Wiggins to smash his DFS salary projection. Thompson averages a a 32.4% usage rate in his six games played, and that's a massive opportunity for the remaining Warriors tonight. We trust Wiggins' average of 19.1 points and 4.5 rebounds without Thompson on the floor tonight against a Houston defense that rates dead last in defensive rating.

Nikola Vucevic Fantasy

Avoid Nikola Vucevic, C, Chicago Bulls ($9,200): While the absences of Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball projects a much bigger role for Nikola Vucevic on Friday night, this is a buyer-beware situation. The Milwaukee Bucks tout a top-10 defensive rating and rebounding percentage. We all know what a force Giannis Antetokounmpo is defensively, so Vucevic's performance man not live up completely to the price tag.

Robert Covington Fantasy

Avoid Robert Covington, PF/SF, Portland Trail Blazers ($6,200): An expanded offensive role has led to Robert Covington posting double-digit points in three of his last four. Still, he's topped out at 15 points in this stretch and must face a tough defensive test. The Boston Celtics rank fifth in defensive rating while playing at the seventh-slowest pace. This isn't a favorable matchup for Covington and the Blazers by any means, so we'll tag the nine-year veteran with an avoid mark tonight.
